Compare SmartEdit and SmartEdit for Word

There are two versions of SmartEdit, a standalone product that was first released in 2012, and a Microsoft Word Add-In (plugin) that was released in September 2014. The standalone version opens documents directly, in its own interface, where you carry out your editing. SmartEdit for Word installs itself as an Add-In to Microsoft Word, allowing you to run checks and edit directly inside Word.

SmartEdit for Word is NOT a standalone product. It requires Microsoft Word to run. There are a number of differences between the two, as some features of the standalone version are not applicable to or required by the Word Add-In.
